The Monroe County Library System and the Monroe City/County Arts Council are calling for entries for the 36th annual juried art show.
Eligibility: Anyone who resides, works, or is a student in Monroe County is eligible to enter the juried show. You may submit up to two pieces of work not previously shown at a Monroe City County Arts Council juried show. Work must be ORIGINAL. No copies or reproductions allowed! Art from photographs or drawings must be from your original work. Work must be executed within the last two years; framed, gallery wrapped, wired, and ready to hang, (limited in size to 40” x 40” – including frame). Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable. Committee may refuse entries that are copies, or that are deemed objectionable or unsuitable because of size or fragility. Prizes are awarded at the discretion of the judge.

Categories:
Oil/acrylic, watermedia, graphics/pastels, ceramics/small sculpture and photography/digital.
Categories may be combined at the juror’s discretion.
Rotating Categories:
- War of 1812: Work reminiscent of the 1812 Era. First through 3rd place winners MUST exhibit their entries at the 2010 Dance Through Time event.
- The BIG READ! Gatsby Era Art: 1920’s era work inspired by The Great Gatsby.
Entry Fees:
- A non-refundable fee of $15.00 will be charged for up to two entries by the same artist.
- Additional entries are $10.00 each.
- Entries need not be in the same medium.
- All flat art is to be framed and suitable forhanging.
Work may be dropped off on:
Thursday April 16th - 4:00-8:30pm
Friday April 17th - 9:00am to 4:30pm

Jurying:
Submitting artists and guests may attend the juror’s comments at 1:00 pm. Saturday, April 18th, 2009 at the Ellis Reference and Information Center, 3700 South Custer Road.
Liability:
All entries are exhibited at the risk of the artist. MCCAC, the Library System, nor any of their representatives can be held liable for loss or damage. Reasonable precautions will be taken to protect the entries.
Pick Up:
Unaccepted work must be picked up on Saturday, April 18th immediately following the juror’s comments.
Accepted work must remain until Thursday, May 7th and can be picked up no later than Friday, May 8th during regular library hours.
