Meeting Minutes October 12, 2005
President Gaylor called meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Gramlich, VanAuker, Weyher, Liedel, Gaylor, McCurdy present. Younglove, Lieto, Grubb absent.
Motion: Gramlich 2nd VanAuker to accept 9/14/05 minutes with corrections. Carried.
Motion: Liedel 2nd VanAuker to pay bills as presented. Carried.
Treasurer Report: accepted as read.
Items From the Floor:
Owner Mr. Sam Taormina of Sams Auto came seeking councils approval to renew his license to sell used automobiles. The State of Michigan requires the approval of council for the renewal of his business license.
Motion: Gramlich 2nd Weyher to approve of Mr. Sam Taomina to renew his business license to sell used automobiles. Carried.
Ms. Rana Willit a village resident on High St. stated that she has been having a property line dispute with her neighbor Mr. Mark West. Ms. Willit said that two of her bushes on or by the property line have been cut down by Mr. West. President Gaylor informed her that the Village of Maybee has no authority over property line issues. She said she knew this and wanted council to know and state for the record the problems she has been facing with her neighbor.
Lt. Oetjens brought to councils attention that the Monroe County Sheriff Dept. is facing a large cutback of patrol officers in the 2006 budget. This will mean little or no patrolling in the Village of Maybee. Lt. Oetjens asked if council does not agree with these cutbacks to send a letter to our County Commissioner Dale Zorn.
Motion: Weyher 2nd VanAuker to send a letter stating the Village of Maybee Council disagrees with the proposed cutbacks for the 2006 budget. Carried.
Blasting Report: Vibra Tech. Of Findlay Ohio, an independent company from Stoneco, has completed an independent study of the blasting being done by Stoneco and has found that these blasts are within legal limits.
Multi Purpose Building: Mark Brandt has been asked to remove the concrete of the old concession stand due to thickness. A contractor has been lined up to do the finish concrete work at $ .50 sq. ft. Messina concrete has offered to donate half of the concrete used in the construction. The outer shell of the new building should be up before winter sets in.
Slide at Park: Slide has been ordered through Banas and paid for by Stoneco. Slide to be installed this spring.
Survey of Town Hall: No word.
Warning Horn Update: Due to public comment Village Council has decided against the use of a warning horn before Stoneco blasts.
Street Construction: Two storm drains on Short St. have been repaired. These same two drains will be repaired again due to poor workmanship.
Street Boring on Bluebush: President Gaylor has asked council to approve the hiring of Schleede Hampton Ass. to complete pavement coring, and soil test boring along the 1 mile stretch of Bluebush Rd. These tests will provide information and options for the future reconstruction of Bluebush. The cost will be approx. $4,200.00.
Motion: Gramlich 2nd Liedel To hire Schleede Hampton Ass. for the purpose of pavement coring and soil test boring along the 1 mile stretch of Bluebush for the approx. sum of $4,200.00 Carried.
Ok for Santa: Councilwoman Marge VanAuker said the tentative date for Santa coming to town has been set for Dec. 13 2005.
Maybee Day: President Gaylor said there has been some volunteers and local businesses interested in organizing the 2006 Maybee Day Festival.
Motion: Liedel 2nd Weyher to adjourn at 8:30 p.m. Carried.
