Meeting Minutes November 9, 2005
President Gaylor called meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: Council Gramlich, VanAuker, Weyher, Liedel, President Gaylor, Treasurer Grubb, Clerk McCurdy present. Council Younglove, Lieto Absent.
Motion: VanAuker 2nd Liedel to accept 10/12/05 minutes as read.
Motion: Gramlich 2nd Liedel to pay bill as presented. Carried.
Treasurer Report: accepted as read.
Items From the Floor:
Ron Rife owner of Action Auto Sales located in Dundee, MI. is unable to legally conduct used automobile sales due to zoning issues in Dundee. Mr. Rife has rented an office space from Sam Taormina of A-1 Auto located at 7525 Bluebush Maybee, MI. to conduct business transactions selling used automobiles. Mr. Rife asked council to approve him obtaining a Used Automobile Dealer License with the address 7525 Bluebush Maybee, MI..
Motion: Gramlich 2nd VanAuker to approve Mr. Rife obtaining a Used Automobile Dealer License with the address of 7525 Bluebush Maybee, MI.. Carried.
Don Ripple of Don's Auto wanted to inform council of his future plans. Mr. Ripple is partnering with investors to establish a pizza / sub shop. Mr. Ripple is hopeful to be set up this spring.
2005 Street Construction:
Cost of 2005 Street Reconstruction was $306,372.50 with a cost savings on total project of $ 56,299.29. Final bill for the2005 Street Reconstruction is $250,073.21.
The two storm drains on Short St. to be repaired next week.
Schleede Hampton to begin street boring on Bluebush next week.
Multi Purpose Building Update:
Foundation is formed and will be poured this weekend. Conduit, sewer and water lines are ready. Weather permitting the outer shell of the new Multi Purpose Building could be up in the next 30 days.
Survey of Town Hall: President Gaylor will contact surveyor.
Maybee Day Committee: President Gaylor said the committee has some good ideas for the 2006 festival. Committee is looking for new members to join. Anyone interested in becoming a member can contact President Gaylor at (734)587-2900.
Tree Report: President Gaylor told council the Village of Maybee was 1 of 2 awarded a grant from the DNR to replace trees around the Post Office affected by the Emerald Ash Borer. Trees to be planted, 3 Locust, 2 Ivy Silk, 4 Lilac, 3 Red Sunset Maple, 4 Red Oak, 5 Robinson Red Crabapple, 3 Canadian Cherry, 2 Spring Snow Crab. Total cost for 26 trees is $3,125.00. DNR portion is $2,257.50, Village portion $ 867.50, Credit for Volunteers & Supplies $1,390.00
Approval of Recreation Budget: President Gaylor asked council to adopt the 2005 Maybee Recreation Fund Budget 408. Beginning fund balance $ 25,039.08.
Motion: Gramlich 2nd Weyher to adopt the 2005 Maybee Recreation Fund Budget 408. Carried.
Approval of Drain Commission 2006 Budget: President Gaylor asked council to adopt the 2006 Budget for Operation and Maintenance for the Village of Maybee Sewage and Disposal System. Cost to operate the system for the year 2006 is $ 62,473.00 included in this cost is $ 1,000.00 for replacement of equipment and $5,000.00 for sludge removal.
Motion: Gramlich 2nd VanAuker to adopt 2006 Budget for Operation and Maintenance for the Village of Maybee Sewage Disposal System. Cost of the 2006 budget is $ 62,473.00. Carried.
Ordinance Report: Discussion was held regarding Village Ordinances. All Ordinances including fee schedules are being checked by the village attorney.
Santa Claus: Santa will be riding the fire truck through the Village of Maybee 12/13/05 Village Hall will open its doors for children to visit Santa at 7:00p.m. till 9:00p.m.
Motion: Gramlich 2nd VanAuker to adjourn at 8:45 p.m. Carried.
Budget Hearing: Village Budget Hearing to be conducted December 14, 2005 at 7:15 p.m.
