Bygones of Monroe:
COUSINO BROTHERS
(Monroe Democrat June 25,1891 p1c2)
Cousino Brothers are fitting up second story of their present store on Washington street for workmen, their other quarters having become so crowed that they found it impossible to keep up with their orders. They will be able to work 37 men and turn out about 8,000 cigars daily. They are at present working 28 hands and their weekly pay roll amounts to near $250, or about $13,000 per year. Monroe is becoming one of the largest manufacturing cites in the state outside of Detroit, and there are but few if any concerns in the city paying out more money every Saturday night the year round help than this one.
