Bygones of Monroe:
For The Mounted Rifles
Forty young men from this city and vicinity, recruited by Frederick Nims and Frank Gale, went up to Detroit last week to join the regiment of mounted riflemen, under Col. Copeland. Although asking for no offices and expecting none, we learn that four Sergeants and four Corporals were given to the squad, and that they were all placed in a company together. Nims was made First Sergeant. We learn also that enough others have gone from this County, to join that Regiment, to form, in all, the better part of a company.
