River Raisin Paper Co.
Maurer Bros., who have been awarded the contract for the plant of the River Raisin Paper Co., broke ground for the same this week, and the concrete mixer was set in operation Wednesday afternoon. The board mill and annexes are to be built first and are located about 100 yards from Elm Ave., the intention being to build the box factory in front of the buildings now contracted for. The buildings being erected are the boiler room, 50 by 44 feet; engine rooms 75 by 40, and 65 by 24; beater room 140 by 72; machine room 350 by 36; printing room 100 by 72. The plant will be of brick and re-enforced concrete and it is planned to have the machinery installed and ready for operation sometime next January. A large sewer along the east side of the company's land is being constructed to the river. It is 800 feet long and reaches a depth of 10 feet. The site of the factory covers better than seven acres and has a frontage of 250 feet and extends from River Raisin to the Munson Run drain, a strip having been bought along the latter water course for the laying of a side track.
