Bygones of Monroe:
Rat Banquet at Chicago.
Evidently the Columbia yacht club members, of Chicago, who attended the Monroe Yacht club banquet were highly satisfied with the dish and with the manner in which they were prepared and served by George J. Wahl, manager of the Wahl House. For at their request he has taken the contract as caterer for a muskrat banquet for that club to be held in the Palmer house at Chicago on Saturday, February 3 rd , for which he will have to ship and prepare about 500 rats. He leaves for that city tonight and will be accompanied by one of the local expert rat chefs and several assistants. The muskrat, by the way, is also gaining favor in New York city and the dealers who make a specialty of providing all kinds of game for market find it difficult to get enough to supply the demand.
