QA with Jean Alicia Elster

Jean Alicia Elster is the author of the 2014 Michigan Notable Book, The Colored Car. We asked Ms. Elster to share her summer reading list.

  • Do you have any comments about your summer reading list? My summer list is all fiction. I'm trying to cram in as many fiction titles as possible before I start my next writing project.
  • What future projects are you planning? Later this summer I'll start work on the third volume in my fictionalized Ford family saga.
  • Are there any books that have had a major impact on you as a writer? Of course. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, and Ake: The Years of Childhood by Wole Soyinka, just to name a few.
