What is MILibraryCard?
MILibraryCard is a voluntary library card program coordinated by the Suburban Library
Cooperative that allows cardholders to borrow print materials from participating Michigan public
and academic libraries.
While there is no charge for MILibraryCard privileges, patrons are responsible for all materials
borrowed through the MILibraryCard program, agree to abide by the lending library's rules,
policies, and regulations. This includes payment for lost or unreturned items, as well as overdue
fines. Borrowed materials may be returned to any MILibraryCard library.
Monroe County Residents
The Monroe County Library System is a participating MILibraryCard member. Patrons in good
standing can get a free MILibraryCard endorsement sticker for your library card at any of our
branches. This handy endorsement allows you to borrow materials from participating libraries all
over Michigan! You may be required to provide registration information when borrowing
materials from another MILibraryCard library.
Individuals who present a valid library card from another participating MILibraryCard library,
with endorsement sticker attached, are eligible to complete the application to borrow printed
materials from the Monroe County Library System. Your MILibraryCard privileges with the
Monroe County Library System will expire after one year, but can be renewed provided you
remain in good standing with the library and present proper identification to update your
account. Borrowed items may be returned to any MILibraryCard library.
Applications to obtain MILibraryCard borrowing privileges from the Monroe County Library
System are available at any of our branches. You must hold a valid library card and your home
library must be participating MILibraryCard member.
Placing Holds on Print Materials
Monroe County Library System MILibraryCard patrons may place holds on books in our system.
However, persons wishing to request materials that must be borrowed from other libraries
(MeLCat) must place them through their home library. No third party requests will be honored.
