Welcome to the Monroe County Library System's redesigned Website!

MCLS is pleased to introduce our new site, re-imagined with an inviting new look, vibrant graphics and user-friendly navigation. We hope you'll find it easier than ever to discover events, services and collections offered by your Monroe County Library System.

Why Redesign the Site?

The main goal of the redesign is to provide service that is relevant to you the modern user as well as the community.  Our new site provides visitors with the same welcoming experience online that they find walking into any of our sixteen physical branch locations.  Library services have been made more discoverable.  Did you know about MCLS special collections, genealogy or tech services?  We invite you to use the new site to learn more about what the Monroe County Library System can do for you and your family.

New and Improved Features

A new feature, dubbed “The List,” has been designed to engage readers from local organizations, businesses and community groups in sharing their favorite book titles.  Check out what your neighbors are reading, then get your church, school or other community group involved in the discussion!  Organizations can fill out a Suggest Your Group form, found right on the MCLS homepage, to submit their interest in participating.

You will also discover improved versions of your favorite online features.  Reading lists and book recommendations are distributed readily across the website, hand-picked by librarians from your neighborhood branches.  The redesign includes a search box located on every page of the website, allowing you to search the MCLS catalog for books, DVDs, CDs and downloadable content any time while browsing. With an ever growing demand for eBooks and audiobooks, the site acts as an access portal to free digital titles and database information which can be downloaded from home, library branches, or your mobile devices.

As the Library’s 24/7 access point, patrons and visitors can also connect with MCLS via social media, RSS feeds and blog posts. Visitors with visual impairments can take advantage of the High Contrast version of the site, provided at the footer of every page. Branch information is also available from any point of the site, making it easy for patrons to connect with their local branch.

We invite you to explore the new website and hope you discover new features and services each time you visit.  We consider it a privilege to serve the Monroe County community and look forward to continuing bringing you new services in the future.
