Some favorites will return, but there will be plenty of new faces. Long-time favorite Herbert Wong Yee will return with two new Mouse and Mole books plus his Fireman Small series which is always a big hit. Also returning is the romantic duo Lori and Tony Carrington. Their romance novels and their infectious enthusiasm add a special element to the event. New faces will include New York Times bestselling author Maria Snyder. Maria will be at Dorsch on Saturday evening, November 7th to sign and sell her books, Poison Study, Magic Study, Fire Study and her latest releases, Sea Glass and Storm Glass. She’ll be at Writers on the River on Sunday. Poison Study won the 2006 Compton Crook Award for Best First Novel, won the Salt Lake Co. Library's Reader's Choice award, was a 2005 Booksense pick, nominated for four other awards, and received a Starred Review from Publisher’s Weekly. Tom Weschler brings his book, Travelin’ Man; On the Road and Behind the Scenes with Bob Seger. Tom has photographed musicians on and off stage including the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Rod Stewart and Bruce Springsteen. His work has been published in Rolling Stone, Billboard, CREEM and numerous books.
Leslie Helakoski, author of the best selling children’s book, Big Chickens will also be on hand. Big Chickens was chosen as the 2007 Michigan Reads! Sharon Kegerreis and Lori Hathaway will bring their Michigan Notable Book, From the Vine; Exploring Michigan Wineries. The 192 page, coffee table book does a great job of taking both those new to Michigan wines and those who know a lot about them closer to the wineries and vintners with engaging writing and beautiful photography. Meet Margery Krevsky whose book Sirens of Chrome: The Enduring Allure of Auto Show Models has been named a 2009 Michigan Notable Book by the Library of Michigan. Local authors this year include Ann Brentar whose inspirational book Coffee with Ann was compiled from her morning emails which inspire and encourage a large following.
