
Sally Field has a new memoir releasing this month called In Pieces. It a very personal biography starting with her childhood. In the same vein, Michelle Obama’s memoir Becoming debuts in November. And, one of the most revealing and candid memoirs is Small Fry by Lisa Brennan-Jobs, recently excerpted in Vanity Fair. She is the daughter of Steve Jobs. Her mother was an early girlfriend of his and he initially did not acknowledge her and had a very hesitant relationship with this first daughter.
Are you more of a fiction fan? Barbara Kingsolver (Flight Behavior) publishes this October her first novel since 2012. It’s called Unsheltered and it’s about a story about a financially struggling couple in present-day Vineland, New Jersey alternating with that of a Utopian community in Vineland in the late 19th century that faced its own divisive struggles. J.K. Rowling releases another mystery under the Robert Gailbraith pseudonym called Lethal White this month. It’s the fourth in the Cormoran Strike series and is about a troubled young man who comes to the British P.I.’s office asking for help investigating a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child, then he disappears. And last but not least, Kate Atkinson (Life after Life) releases
