This is the first entry of your library's Between the Lines blog. As the blogger, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Judy and I am a reference librarian for the Monroe County Library System. This blog will talk about books, publishing, and all things reading. I read all genres of fiction and an occasional nonfiction title. You may find it hard to believe, but I belong to three book clubs. I facilitate a book club here at the library and am a member of two personal book clubs.
So, what are the librarians at MCLS hearing this week? As you probably know, the film adaptation of Dan Brown's Inferno comes out later this month, but there's more news! Doubleday and Dan Brown’s website are announcing the next Robert Langdon novel will release in September of 2017.
In other news, here’s the cover you may never see again. The Guardian is reporting that James Patterson, in deference to Stephen King and his family, has decided to pull the November publication of The Murder of Stephen King, coauthored with Derek Nikitas, from his BookShots series. BTW, if you haven’t picked up a BookShots, you should. Running around 150 pages, they are co-written with other authors. They include thrillers and romances for adults and you can read one in a couple of hours. Patterson says he started BookShots to entice people who don’t normally read, but I find loyal Patterson fans are picking them up! Seems very RETRO to me… remember when you could pick up a short paperback at the drugstore? Patterson wants these sold in drugstores, grocery stores, etc.
